ISS Evidence-Based Policing South Africa Conference


On 28 November 2024, Dr Maree, the Incident and Analytics Manager at Cash-In-Transit Association of South Africa (CITASA), was a speaker at the ISS Evidence-Based Policing South Africa Conference held in Cape Town. The conference, hosted by the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), focused on policing violent crime in South Africa.

Her presentation, titled “Cash-in-transit robbery in South Africa: A collaborative approach towards offender identification, crime pattern analysis and deterrence,” highlighted the importance of collaboration between the South African Police Service (SAPS), the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), the cash-in-transit industry, and CITASA. The presentation emphasised how joint efforts in intelligence sharing, offender identification, and crime pattern analysis contribute to reducing cash-in-transit related crime in South Africa.
