CITASA update on CIT preventative initiatives.

CITASA continues through its collaborative efforts with the CIT industry as well as law enforcement to ensure that we do everything possible to reduce CIT robberies in South Africa. Cash-in-Transit robberies decreased by -4% comparing 2023 with 2022.

CITASA collaborated with SAPS during the National Safer Festive season launch in Cape Town on 14 October 2023.

Gauteng is the highest risk province for cash-in-transit robberies in South Africa. CITASA attended a Safer Festive Season initiative in the Gauteng province on 21 October 2023 at Randfontein.

Part of the initiative was to display available resources such as helicopters, vehicles and drones.

Air surveillance is a key crime prevention initiative to curb cash-in-transit robberies.

Proactive patrols and quick response to CIT crime scenes are vital.

The outcome of these preventative initiatives in Gauteng resulted in a -33% decrease in cash-in-transit robberies from quarter 3 to quarter 4 of 2023 in this province.
